Abstract
Banyuajuh Village is one of the villages with the majority of residents working as farmers. Unfortunately, with the large agricultural potential owned by, it is classified as a disadvantaged village (poverty village). The purpose of this study was to explore the causes of poverty among farmers in Banyuajuh village, and provided recommendations to overcome these problems in order to develop agriculture sustainably through improving farmers' welfare. The data used in this study are primary data obtained by in-depth interview method with PRA (Participatory Rural Appraisal) approach. Data analysis of this study used root-causes, poverty and penta capital theory. It is known that the main factors in the form of difficult access to finance, depletion of agricultural land, declining soil fertility, lack of infrastructure development and subsidies. Several programs that can be proposed to be developed to overcome poverty is optimization KUR funds or Utilization AUTP (Asuransi Usahatani Padi) of to overcome farmers' problems with lack of agricultural inputs. Then, another program by doing women empowerment to improve farmers household food security.
