Abstract
Food security should be achieved not only in the national and regional level but also in the household level. The quality of food consumption in households describes the affordability of households to access to food and can show household nutritional adequacy. The objective of the study was to examine household food security and the dietary diversity of farmer households. We applying a 24-hour dietary recall approach to interview 37 women from farmer households in Rohayu Village, Kedungdung sub-district, Sampang District, Madura Island. Farmer household food security (FHFS) status is measured by the Household Dietary Diversity Scores (HDDS). These studies reveal that on average, 8.2 HDDS and 13.5% of households had moderate food security. Only 21.6% of households consumed meat, and neither had access to nor used milk. The knowledge of housewives and household income should be used to assist in growing the variety of foods consumed in the households.
